Pritam Gurjar Bhawan is being built on the Mahajan Vado plot of Shri Visha Shrimali Jain Gurjar Gnati,Mandvi Kutch. Mahajan Vado, admeasuring approx 12000 sq feet, is situated on the main road near Swaminarayan Mandir. The road has many reputed banks, showrooms and restaurants . The plot is donated by Shri Dosabhai Panachand Shah to Shri Visha Shrimali Oswal Jain Gurjar Gnati in Samvat 2002,almost 70 years before. Shri Doshabhai Panachand Shah was a very reputed and generous personality. He was uncle of Bennat Past President Shri Shantibhai and grand father of Shri Mahabal Chaganlal Shah and Shri Kartik Prabhulal Shah,Mumbai. Shri Dosabhai was married to Diwaliben who belonged to the rich and famous family of Meghji Thobhan (Gil and Co),Mumbai. She was daughter of Shri Virchandbhai Meghji Theban. Shri Dosabhai purchased this plot and developed a garden for his wife Diwaliben. Shri Dosabhai had no children.
He later on donated this plot to Shri Visha Shrimali Oswal Jain Gurjar Gnati for the benefit of Jain Samaj of Mandvi. With the development of Mandvi in last 20 years, the plot which was considered outside the city has now become the prime property. It is now on the main road which has many reputed banks, showrooms and restaurants. The famous Swaminarayan temple is just next to the plot. Keeping this in view, Shri Visha Shrimali Gurjar Jain Gnati trustees thought it the right time to build Gurjar Bhawan on this plot for the benefit of Jain Samaj and people of Mandvi. They also thought that they can create such a facility which will of great use in time to come and it will create a continuous source of rental income which can be used for benefit of Gurjar Jain Samaj of Mandvi for many years to come. I had the privilege of making the idea public during the function of launching the book “Mandvi Mari Matrubhumi” written and compiled by Shri Jagdishbhai Ravilal Shah at Jainpuri , Mandvi. Shri Narendrabhai Pritamlal Shah had come from Mumbai to attend the function.
When I announced that we are inviting the main donor of the Gurjar Bhuwan and expect a donation of Rs.51 lakhs, Shri Narendrabhai Pritamlal Shah instantly accepted the offer and expressed his willingness to donate Rs. 51 lakhs. The trustees accepted his offer with great pleasure and all present at the function were delighted with the generosity of Shri Narendrabhai. And so the Gurjar Bhawan was named as “Pritam Gurjar Bhawan“ in memory of Shri Pritamlalbhai Shah, father of Shri Narendrabhai. This is the short history of Pritam Gurjar Bhawan project.
